Have some denim that is ready for a new life? If not, pick some up at a thrift store and join us for some hands on DIY Denim Upcycling.
No experience required, we'll review and guide you through fun and simple techniques and share tips and tricks to change collars, sleeve and pant length, release hems, make various types of patches, and accents with fabric scraps, embroidery, beads and buttons!
**IMPORTANT: Participants must bring a denim garment if they wish to take a wearable project home.***
Workshops working with bleach and paints will be messy, please dress appropriately as you may get splattered and ruin "good clothes". Gloves will be provided as needed.
Part 1: DIY Bleaching & Distressing
Part 2: Patches, Embroidery & Other Embellishments
Part 3: Paint Splatter & Artist Painted Techniques
Part 4: Explore laser cutter to etch designs and words.
Attendees do not need to take more than 1 workshop to participate in any of the workshops, but they do build on each-other so you can create some awesomely layered looks!
INSTRUCTOR BIO: Elaine is a staff member of Mixxer. With a background in ballet, jazz, tap, belly dance and more, Elaine began with making costumes and stage sets & props. Her daily apparel wasn't to be left behind, so she started adorning & upcycling those to suit as well. Crafting, painting, jewelry making, & more were all fair game.

Workshops must meet a minimum number of registrations. Mixxer may cancel workshop 48 hours prior to start time, if minimum is not met. Should you need to cancel your registration, 48 hours notice is required to request a cancellation, refund or credit to future workshop date.
