So you've learned blender and you've 3D printed a thing or two, but you're ready to start bridging the gap from 3D modeling to 3D printing and don't know where to start? Join us to learn the ins and outs of bringing your designs to life. In this course you'll be able to ask all the questions that may come up during the process and tips and tricks to making your models print ready.

    Level: Advanced, Ages 13+

Hi, I'm Dakota. I went to school for architecture and currently work at a high end furniture design firm running their 3d printers and doing their 3d modeling and rendering. I've worked in a lot of different fields from the building construction industry to city planning. I'm sort of a jack of all trades when it comes to making both with my hands and digitally. My current hobbies are home renovation, cosplay, and building cnc machines. I'm always short on time but I love to brain storm and either get inspired or help inspire others. So come talk to me about your crazy projects!

Learn how to create a dazzling rainbow effect on wood and create a rainbow tone picture frame! In this class we will review how to create a rainbow finish. This style can be recreated on most hardwoods, but for the purposes of this class we will be working on pre-assembled wooden picture frames. This look uses several techniques: shou sugi ban inspired wood burning, colored stain application, and traditional wood sealing. You’ll be taking home a finished 8” x 6” picture frame that can hold a 4” x 6” photo, as well as the knowledge of how to apply the technique to other objects.

When using stains, there's always the risk of accidentally getting some on your clothes. Please wear something that you don't mind this happening to. Refrain from wearing loose clothes, and keep long hair tied back.

With a background in mathematics, studio art, and architecture, Justyna uses her training to explore a variety of creative mediums. Justyna and her husband Dakota have been members at Mixxer since shortly after it was founded. See some of her work at www.bernackidesign.com

I’m a trauma ICU nurse by night and a creator by day! I work in the TICU at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, and I was born and raised in Clemmons/Winston. I never considered myself to be artistic or creative until I decided I needed a hobby when I started working in the ICU in 2020. The hobby of making clay jewelry started as a way to decompress after long shifts and as a way to wake up on my days off, but it has progressed to so much more. I want to be able to show others that they can be artistic and creative as well, and to teach new techniques, demonstrating that there is no right way to make art. I will be attending Wake Forest University in the fall in the Nurse Anesthesia program and I’m looking forward to keeping the art alive during school. If you want to make your ghost reactive to colorful lights (or just make it a ghostly white) bring your own spray paint to paint your ghost.

Note: Please wear close toed shoes, long pants and long sleeves. If you have a pair of well fitting work gloves please bring those as well.

Participants will use needle and thread to create 2-4 notebooks during the class.

Attendees will take home their bracelets along with some facts, info and care sheets on working with and caring for copper jewelry as well as a list of resources should they want to continue their practice at home or at Mixxer.

The next step in your 3D modeling mastery! We'll be covering one of the most useful tools for streamlining impressive models without going about it the hard way (speaking from experience). Displacement mapping can be tricky and a firm grasp of the basics will help a lot for this class.

            Level: Intermediate, Ages 13+

The Fall Sewing Series is a series of three classes where we will make different fall-themed items: drink coasters, coffee koozies, and a trick-or-treat/tote bag while learning how to safely and properly operate a sewing machine.

This session we'll be making a trick or treat bag or a tote bag! We'll have fall themed fabric on hand but feel free to bring your own if you want something specific.

If you have a home sewing machine you prefer to work on, please bring it with you, otherwise we do have home and industrial machines available for use.
