In this maker experience, makers will learn the basics of MIG welding while creating a multipurpose box.
You will take pre-cut steel pieces and ball bearings and learn how to weld them together. You will also learn optimal ways to set up the pieces to fit your welding style. Your box will be approximately 3 inches wide x 3 inches long x 5 inches tall.
Will it be a planter, a pencil holder, or something else? How you use it is up to you, but it is best displayed in a prominent place so you can show off your new skills!
This is a great experience for makers brand new to MIG welding and those who want to hone in on their skills and create something functionally fun. This workshop is limited to a few spots, so you can have more one-on-one instruction!
IMPORTANT: Be sure to wear natural materials (no spandex, nylon, etc.) and long pants that cover your boots or close toed shoes. We'll provide the rest of the safety gear you'll need.
Makers under 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Email workshops@wsmixxer.org with questions.
Workshops must meet a minimum number of registrations. Mixxer may cancel workshop 48 hours prior to start time, if minimum is not met. Should you need to cancel your registration, 48 hours notice is required to request a cancellation, refund or credit to future workshop date.
