INSTRUCTOR
Sara Reinthaler
Have you always wanted to try your hand at wood carving or whittling? In this maker experience, you will get an introduction to wood carving . Makers will learn to cut out shapes on the electric scroll saw or bandsaw, then use a carving knife to shape and carve the details!
You will learn to make a snowman, heart or other wood adornment! Take your shape home to be sanded, painted or wood burned. These wintery items make nice holiday ornaments, magnets or gift tags!
IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE:
Be sure to wear and boots or close toed shoes. We'll provide the rest of the safety gear you'll need.
Please bring your own cut resistant gloves if you have them.
Mixxer's cut resistant gloves are sized M & L; if other sizes are needed, please email workshops@wsmixxer.org.

Sara moved to NC in 2020 from New Jersey where she founded and ran a Makerspace in a k-8 school for 8 years. She has taught many classes on a variety of craft and STEM topics to both children and educators. She loves to learn new skills and make all the things!
Sara learned to wood carve while living in New Jersey, attending a local woodcarving school. She continues to share her passion for the craft with Mixxer members and the local Triad woodcarving community.
