In this maker experience, you will learn to create custom leather gifts! This experience will teach the basics of measuring and creating a pattern, assembling a project, and tooling/etching a simple design. These make great holiday gifts for loved ones or for yourself!
Great for those brand new to or just getting started in leatherworking!
Some ideas include (but are not limited to) mason jar wrap with handle, flask wrap, belt holsters for bottle, folding fan, or hip flask, a renaissance style mug belt hanger, or a simple set of arm bracers. Be sure to bring your item with you to craft a custom fit!
For more information or to ask about making other items please inquire 2-3 days before the class. This will allow time to ensure we have everything you might need!
We will supply you with hand tools, accessories, and leather.
Instructor Bio: Shana Brumfield hails from New Orleans before moving to Winston-Salem. Shana got into leather working after joining the Society for Creative Anachronism (a medieval reenactment group) and realized she could make a lot of the accessories cheaper than she could buy them! Shana has been working with leather for over 20 years and has made more than a few special order items. Shana is kindly offering this maker experience at MIXXER because she wants to share her love and extensive experience of this craft with others. This wonderful maker experience is an opportunity to try working with leather without spending a lot of money getting started!
