Intro to the Lathe: Turn your own Pen

Come to MIXXER Woodworking Studio to learn wood turning and make your own pen!

In this Maker Experience, you will get an introduction to woodworking and learn:

• Understand how wood works & behaves
• Woodworking Workspace Safety
• Cutting materials using power tools
• How to use a wood lathe
• and more!

Beginners and intermediate woodworking DIY'ers are welcome! In this introductory class, you will learn the basics of setting up and operating a lathe for pen turning. You will be guided step-by-step through the process of transforming a raw piece of wood into a beautiful, handmade writing instrument. You will learn about the different types of turning tools, chisels, and accessories. By the end of the class, you will have an understanding of the fundamentals of wood turning, taking home new skills and a pen made with your own hands!

*Makers under 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Email workshop@wsmixxer.org with questions.

Workshops must meet a minimum number of registrations. Mixxer may cancel workshop 48 hours prior to start time, if minimum is not met. Should you need to cancel your registration, 48 hours notice is required to request a cancellation, refund or credit to future workshop date.
